Remembering David Bowie: The Man Who Fell to Earth

We are remembering David Bowie with our screening of The Man Who Fell to Earth, a daring exploration of science fiction as an art form. The story of an alien on an elaborate rescue mission provides the launching pad for Nicolas Roeg’s 1976 visual tour de force, a formally adventurous examination of alienation in contemporary life. Rock legend David Bowie, in his acting debut, completely embodies the title role, while Candy Clark, Buck Henry, and Rip Torn turn in pitch-perfect supporting performances.

Magic Flute from Bregenz is a thing of wonder

Even though it was colder at the Strand than we would like, we had a respectable turnout on Sunday, January 10 for The Magic Flute as recorded at the Bregenz Festival. It was a spectacular production. Here is a link with more information and a review.
