Picture a Scientist - new film about women in science from the virtual Strand (plus a Q&A)

Watch at home: support the Strand
Picture a Scientist
watch starting June 12
A new film to watch at home while supporting the present and future of the Strand Theatre. Should strike a chord here in Vicksburg where we have and have had so many women scientists. The film is an eye opening examination of the difficult journeys made by so many and the hard won progress that has been made.

PICTURE A SCIENTIST is a feature-length documentary film chronicling the groundswell of researchers who are writing a new chapter for women scientists. A biologist, a chemist and a geologist lead viewers on a journey deep into their own experiences in the sciences, overcoming brutal harassment, institutional discrimination, and years of subtle slights to revolutionize the culture of science. From cramped laboratories to spectacular field stations, we also encounter scientific luminaries who provide new perspectives on how to make science itself more diverse, equitable, and open to all.

A Q&A will take place 8-9 pm eastern time on June 17, with our three star scientists, two directors, and moderator Molly Webster of Radiolab. Viewers will be able to use the YouTube live chat feed to submit questions once the event begins.
