Coming Friday, March 25 - 7 PM Durant's Never Closes - (Meet the director)

Travis Mills, director of Durant's Never Closes will be at the Strand with the movie on Friday, March 25. The film concerns a single day in the life
of Jack Durant, who owned Phoenix's Durant's steakhouse and died in 1987. Notorious for leaving his house and an annual allowance of $50,000 to his pet English bulldog, Humble, Durant was a legendary ladies man who may or may not have been connected to the mob and was briefly, in the 1950s, one of the FBI's Top Ten Most Dangerous Men in Arizona. The film stars Tom Sizemore (Saving Private Ryan) and features legendary director Peter Bogdanovich (The Last Picture Show). (Durant's should be considered R rated for strong language.)

Mr. Mills has family ties in Brookhaven, Mississippi, but resides in Phoenix. He enjoys returning to Brookhaven, and is currently shooting his next movie there. Entitled Porches & Private Eyes it is a "small town comedy / murder-mystery." Many Mississippi actors including the townspeople of Brookhaven are part of the production.

Mr. Mills and members of his crew will be at the screening at the Strand to discuss both films with the audience.

Daniel Boone, film programmer for the Strand, explained, "we try to support local and regional independent film makers as part of our mission to bring projects that our audience might otherwise not have a chance to see, Also, we feel that getting to meet the people who create the films gives us a deeper understanding of the process of making movies. I hope Vicksburg comes out to see the film and ask questions."

  1. This place is stunning. The architecture is beautiful and the decoration is spectacular. Environment was transparent and resonant and warm and immediate. I loved the venues in NYC and my experience here was very exciting.
